Warwick Talbut from Bay Engineers wanted 50 replica Davey Lamps made as gifts for some of the people involved with the Pike River Mine disaster.

Peter Berriman from Hose Supplies, Bay Engineers sister company was put in charge of the project. Peter visited me (MitchPennell) with an original lamp which I made drawings of for manufacture.

Most of the components were manufactured from Solid Brass in our CNC Lathe and Milling Machine and Peter and his team made the Mesh centres and carry handles.

The finished result was so good that only an inexperienced eye would struggle to tell they were not the genuine article.
